TEAM awards:  Must register team and have three (3) runners finish the same distance.  Cross country scoring– low score wins.

COURSE:  Approx. 4.25 mile lollipop-style loop.  Leaves soccer field at south end, does short loop near houses, then heads across large arroyo.

Immediate LEFT on far side of arroyo, climb by steep switchbacks up to round-the-mountain trail.  RIGHT on loop trail heading towards Library and Redd Road.  At high point above Library, bear right onto “Giants’ Loop.”  Skirt edge of sharp drop-off above Redd Road, circle back to Dam #1.  Cross dam and follow switchbacks up side of ridge and then down to ***AID STATION (1.2 mile point).

Next few miles are the same as in past races.  From Aid Station take sharp right through ditch, then left and follow top of earthen dam (hummock) north to “top of lollipop.”  LEFT uphill at end of Dam #2, join Loop Trail going clockwise around North Peak (quite scenic with large rock outcrops).  At northeast edge of North Peak, cut sharp LEFT (people have missed this turn in past– but it is WELL flagged and marked) through ditch and uphill towards power-lines.  Follow old jeep road under power-lines.  Old jeep road circles back around to east end of Dam #3.

Head downhill on old jeep road from east end of Dam #3.  Look for sharp right off jeep road on bike trail cutting west towards side of mountain/ large (10′ tall) dirt piles.  Follow well-flagged and very smooth path south back to end of earthen dam where you rejoin the outbound trail.

Retrace your steps all the way to start.  You will hit the aid station again at 3 miles.

Entering the soccer field, you go STRAIGHT and circle all the way around (on paths) its perimeter.  If FINISHING, finish chute- line = off to the left of picnic shelter.  If continuing for another laps, **GRAB RUBBER BAND** from official next to picnic shelter so that you may keep track of your laps.  If you are dropping out or stopping early you must inform officials at the picnic shelter.

>>MAP of course is posted here at the blogsite (maps also posted and available at start).  >>>NOTE!  Course is well-marked (orange flags/ chalk arrows/ signs), but you should STUDY the MAP as there are numerous sharp turns.  There will be at least one trail register box you pass on the loop, and after the first lap each runner should take a card from the BOX on each lap (thus, a marathoner would pick up cards on Laps 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6).  Marathoners also do short extra out-back at end to get in proper distance.  ***We are trying to be fair, and have all runners complete the proper course.

We have LOTS of FOOD and refreshments, nice medals and t-shirts etc.  We expect a FUN day on our beautiful local trails.
